Lake Placid Public Beach

  • Parkside Drive, Lake Placid

Located right in downtown Lake Placid, the Lake Placid Public Beach is a summer lover's dream come true. Situated on the south end of Mirror Lake, the sandy beach has a pier and a launch site for canoes or kayaks. There's also a changing facility, tennis courts, and playground.

Every July, the Lake Placid Public Beach is an ideal place to watch Fourth of July fireworks and to witness the beginning of the Ironman Lake Placid triathlon. The competition begins with an early-morning, 2.4-mile swim that ends at the beach.

The 128-acre Mirror Lake is surrounded by mountains and lined with homes, hotels, restaurants, art galleries, and shops. Its 2.7-mile perimeter is paved for walking, jogging, and biking. It's easy to spend a day swimming, fishing, paddling, and checking out the scenery at this downtown beach!
