It is in the air, you can feel it. Fall is right around the corner and that means the leaves are about to embark on their annual journey from the air to the ground In fact, if you look closely you can see it already beginning. Leaves have begun to change here in the Adirondacks and the window is a small one to ingest this one of a kind sight.
Fall in the Adirondacks is one of the most amazing natural sites in the world. The vast spectrum of colors you will witness on any given day are unlike anywhere else. The 6 million acres of the Adirondacks provide a number of unique methods in which to appreciate this amazing natural annual occurrence.
Leaf Peeping has become more popular with each passing year, in keeping with that demand the Visitor’s Bureau will provide postings on the best viewing locations over a 6 – 8 week period. Once reports start coming in from biologists, botanists, and our own local observers you will start seeing live updates on www.lakeplacid.com.
In addition, on the site we will explain the natural processes that give us such gorgeous Autumn colors and how weather can, and will, be a factor.
For now, you can visit www.lakeplacid.com/prefoliage for a preview of what you can expect this Fall in the Adirondacks. The site also features images from the area already this year.
A great way to plan your Autumn color viewing adventure might be to plan around an event already taking place. September and October are busy months here in the Adirondacks, September 13th is the 5th annual Festival of Colors in Lake Placid and on the 14th in Wilmington is the NY Ski Educational Foundation Foliage Hill Climb. Then in October you have the 17th annual Oktoberfest at Whiteface Mountain and for the kids the Huge Haunted Halloween Party in Wilmington on the 25th.
So don’t miss a chance to grab the camera and take the family for a drive this Autumn, both locals and tourist can agree you want to walk away answering yes to the question ~ Have You Seen The View From Here?
