Activities
Rest, relax and chill out. Or explore, experiment and play. Decisions, decisions... But don’t worry, you won’t have to choose just one because the High Peaks Region invites you to do all these and more. The setting of the six-million acre natural sanctuary known as the Adirondack Park ensures a memorable experience no matter what activity you select.

Shopping
From hiking gear to designer clothes, our shops on Main Street have it all. Spend the day window shopping for that perfect gift or souvenir among our Adirondack craft and antique stores.
Dining
The Adirondack culinary experience is inspired by the diversity of the natural elements that characterize this magnificent region. Whether you seek traditional American cuisine in a family-friendly atmosphere or an elegant dinner of gourmet cuisine, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your craving in one of our many restaurants.
Spas & Salons
Luxuriate in a relaxing soak, savor a deep-tissue massage, re-hydrate with a paraffin hand treatment or be lulled by a soothing facial.

In the Adirondacks, a rainy day doesn’t put a damper on the fun. Make a trip to one of our many museums or historic sites to learn about our exciting heritage. If the arts are what move you, take in a show or concert at one of our community theatres or browse a gallery.

The High Peaks Region is where rugged and wild meet refined and civilized. Whether you are roughing it under the stars after a day’s hike or just relaxing by the lake in an Adirondack chair, the great outdoors awaits you here.
Golf
Crafted by top golf designers, our 13 courses offer challenges for the novice and expert alike. But be warned: with the majestic High Peaks as a backdrop, you may have trouble keeping your eye on the ball and your head in the game.
Fishing
Nearly 2,500 lakes and 30,000 miles of pristine rivers and streams are enough to lure any angler. But just in case you aren’t convinced, the Adirondacks are also host to renowned year-round fishing tournaments and contests from Lake Champlain to the legendary West Branch of the AuSable.
Skiing
There’s enough variety of terrain at the mountain that was host to the 1980 Olympic Winter Games to guarantee the whole family has an epic day. Mom and Dad can ski the biggest vertical drop in the East and feel assured that their little one is having an awesome time in our Whiteface Kid’s Kampus Ski School that is consistently ranked one of the top three programs in the nation.
XC Skiing
Just the swoosh of your skis and the wind in the trees are all you’ll hear as you push on around the next bend of the trail. Try the groomed trails of Mount Van Hoevenberg or set out for a more secluded trek down the Jackrabbit Trail that runs from Keene to Saranac Lake. The beauty and tranquility of an Adirondack winter is best experienced on skis.
