Lake Placid Film Festival Red Carpet Cocktail honoring producer Barbara DeFina

Hollywood glamor is Adirondack bound as Adirondack Film announces this year’s Red Carpet Cocktail event on Friday, October 27th during the Lake Placid Film Festival. The special event will be celebrating the work of legendary and prolific producer, Barbara DeFina. As a producer, DeFina has worked for decades on cinematic classics such as Goodfellas, The Color of Money, Hugo, Age of Innocence, You Can Count on Me, and Casino. Her films have entertained and inspired audiences around the world, and her commitment to education, diversity, and inclusion has made a significant impact on the entertainment industry.

As tremendous as her career in film has been, it is her advocacy for the film industry, in particular the education and opportunity of future film professionals that Adirondack Film is recognizing. From overseeing grant programs that assist high school students to pursue a career in film, to numerous mentorship programs that illuminate the opportunities to college students post graduation, DeFina’s contributions to film education are immense. “We are honored to have Ms. DeFina joining us in Lake Placid to celebrate her career and her contributions to making the production industry in New York stronger and more representative of our great state,” says Matt Fretz, interim director of the Festival.

DeFina will be featured in casual conversation with Paul Hardart, a clinical professor of Marketing at the Stern School of Business at NYU. Hardart, a former Hollywood executive, has also produced and collaborated on a number of feature films including Max and Mary, Billy Elliott, and Being John Malkovich.

In addition to DeFina & Hardart’s conversation, attendees are encouraged to mingle with industry experts and local leaders as they are treated to hors d'oeuvres and a signature “Casino” cocktail at the open bar.
