Arriving in Lake Placid

Plan your Adirondack adventure

Lake Placid is nestled within the vast, protected wilderness of the Adirondacks, a region whose unspoiled beauty has drawn visitors for decades. Thanks to limited development, this pristine environment remains a predominately drive-to destination. But don’t worry—getting here is part of the adventure! The scenic byways make the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.

If driving isn't your preference, there are still plenty of options. Lake Placid and Lake Clear airports welcome smaller daily flights, and three international airports are located within a two-hour drive. You can also take advantage of the Greyhound bus service, which winds through the Adirondacks, or hop on Amtrak, which passes right through the region. No matter how you travel, Lake Placid is perfectly situated for your next getaway!
