Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society/Museum

  • 242 Station Street, Lake Placid

The Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society has operated The History Museum in the historic Lake Placid Railroad Station since 1967. The Museum reveals the rich and unique history of the Village of Lake Placid and the Town of North Elba. Exhibits in the past have included topics such as the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics photographs, the era of the grant hotels and guides, The Stedman and Moses Collection of Glass Plate Negatives, and The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department.

In the winter months when museum operations are closed, the Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society hosts an historic fall tour in September and a winter lecture series from January-April.

The History Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00am to 4:00p from Memorial Day to mid-October. Please visit their website at www.lakeplacidhistory.com or call the History Museum at 518-523-1608 for additional information.
