Trail's End Celebration in Lake Placid

Part of Ongoing Celebrations for the 100th Anniversary of the Northville-Placid Trail!

Throughout 2024, the Adirondacks has been celebrating the 100th anniversary of this historic trail, one of the first long-distance trails in America. It's been a year full of museum exhibits, trail work parties, gatherings with NPT alumni, and more, all organized and hosted by amazing local organizations. Whether you want to get your feet — and hands — dirty on the trail or learn about the trail’s history, this is the trail you're looking for.

Trail's End Celebration

You've made it to the end of the trail. You've walked through Adirondack forests, alongside streams and rivers, maybe even got to see a bear (from a safe distance!). What's next? You celebrate your achievement, of course!

On September 14, join the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism, the Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society, and other outdoor organizations for a trail's end party like no other. You don't even need to do the hike, just be prepared to celebrate it, at the actual end of the classic Northville-Placid Trail. Enjoy history displays and exhibits from the Historical Society and the Adirondack Experience, the Museum on Blue Mountain Lake while enjoying free beer tastings from regional brewers.

Also on tap:

  • Children's craft activities with the Lake Placid Olympic Museum
  • Toe-tapping live music by Austin and the In-Laws
  • The Waffle Cabin will be serving up hot dogs, hamburgers, Italian sausages, french fries & tenders, fried dough, and more!
  • Tabletop DIY s'mores! We can't offer you a campfire but we can provide everyone's favorite gooey campfire food!
  • Facepainting from Pipsqueak the Clown
  • Booths and goodies from outdoor organizations including the Adirondack Mountain Club and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation
