Start the new year moving your body in the fresh air! John Brown Farm State Historic Site is hosting guided First Day Hikes this New Year’s Day on the trails of the historic property.

There will be two hikes depending on the weather. One on the inner trail and a second longer hike of the outer loop trail.

Meet-up Location: Traffic Circle near the historic house

Approximate distance of hike: 2 miles, Leashed pets welcome.

Guided hikes will start at 10:00 a.m. Wear appropriate footwear and attire for the conditions. If there is deep snow, organizers recommend bringing snowshoes.

The 14th annual First Day Hikes program is a statewide collaboration between the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Canal Corporation, as well as partnering hosts. Walks and hikes are planned throughout the state at at state parks, historic sites, wildlife areas, canal trails, and public lands.
