Conference Center at Lake Placid Welcomes First Group
This meeting is called to order!

LAKE PLACID, ADIRONDACKS USA -- Complete with over a mile of wood trim accents, over nine miles of electrical and AV wiring and the ability to cook 200 filets mignons in two minutes, the new Conference Center at Lake Placid welcomed its first meeting group on Wednesday, May 11 as 600 attendees from the Child Passenger Safety group arrived for a three-day conference.

The very words "Lake Placid" conjure images of soaring mountain ranges, serene crystal lakes and deep, unspoiled forests. A longtime Adirondack destination, Lake Placid has hosted world class events, including two Olympic Winter Games, intimate meetings and visitors seeking to invent their own perfect day for over 100 years.

The Center was designed with the communityʼs room stock and amenities, its location in the Adirondacks and the needs of the meeting market in mind. It is equipped with flexible meeting space (the walls move), comfortable seating, soundproof walls and all of the audio visual technological equipment and connections necessary to conduct a contemporary business meeting.

The Conference Center at Lake Placid features a balance of eco-technology that keeps energy costs to a minimum, while maximizing access to the spectacular views of the Adirondacks. It is a green building, constructed with its sheltered Adirondack setting, and the health and comfort of its guests in mind. Construction techniques adhere to the criteria set forth by the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design consortium) and incorporate optimized energy performance, renewable, recycled materials and natural daylight.

Lake Placid now offers the best of both worlds, as the community continues to accommodate groups who are looking for a traditional convention center. The Herb Brooks 1980 Arena and the Jack Shea 1932 Arena are connected to the Conference Center, and each offers 20,000 square feet of space for a variety of large scale trade shows, food and beverage functions, and events.

In all, the new Conference Center will offer over 90,000 square feet of flexible meeting and exhibition space, with a total of 12 breakout rooms available for concurrent sessions, a 9,000 square foot ballroom and a full service production kitchen. The Conference Center is complemented by numerous full service resorts that welcome and accommodate the needs of groups of all sizes, many offering meeting facilities appropriate for additional break-out sessions. Host lodging properties range from full service resorts with 250 rooms to smaller more value-minded facilities allowing attendees a wide range of properties from which to choose based on taste and budget.

The Conference Center sales team coordinates hotel bids and proposals, assists groups and attendees in inventing custom programs for meetings and activities, develops comprehensive itineraries and spousal programs and offers centralized accounting and a convenient online reservations system.
