Cascade Welcome Center

The Adirondack Mountain Club's Cascade Welcome Center brings easy access to visitor information and outdoor recreation right to the main thoroughfare between Lake Placid and Keene. Conveniently located near popular recreation hubs, visitors can stop here year-round for advice, trip planning, cross-country skiing, environmental education programs, gear shopping, and more.

How to get there

Less than 5 miles from downtown Lake Placid, Cascade Welcome Center is not hard to find at all! Take Route 73 east toward Keene/Keene Valley. Go 3.0 miles from the Olympic Jumping Complex and Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds. Cascade Welcome Center will be on your right. There is a large parking with plenty of parking. Cascade Welcome Center is also 9.5 miles from the intersection of routes 9N and 73 in Keene.

Summer season (May- October)

Planning a trek in the High Peaks? Need a restroom? Looking for a new fleece hiking layer? Cascade Welcome Center is a one-stop-shop for everything you need. Trained and knowledgeable Adirondack Mountain Club staff can help you select the perfect hike. Learn about hikes and other outdoor recreation opportunities in the area and how to recreation responsibly by practicing Leave No Trace ethics. To combine learning with recreation, staff naturalists may be around to chat or lead guided walks around the property.

Winter season (November - March)

When the snow falls, Cascade Welcome Center's 10 miles of trails turn into a cross-country skiing and snowshoeing haven. Adirondack Mountain Club staff will still be on hand to offer expert information on winter recreation and host a retail store, but now there's a full ski shop, complete with new and used cross-country skis, boots, and bindings.
