Brewster Park

A historical Lake Placid park

Newly renovated and rededicated to the Brewster family, the Park is a scenic and relaxing spot at the end of Main Street. Make a stop here at any time of year to appreciate the historical nature of the spot, and the views of Mirror Lake, Cobble Hill, and the distant High Peaks, that it provides.

Year-round activity

Brewster Park is accessible all year long, and each season brings out a different, unique side of the space. During the spring, plants are blooming bright, and during summer you'll see more and more paddlers out on Mirror Lake. The Park is a fun stop if you're on the lake, be it on a paddleboard, kayak, or are out for a swim. The views during the Fall are exceptional, so bringing your camera is a must for walking around the lake. When winter comes around, Brewster Park becomes one of two spots on Mirror Lake where you can ride a dog sled

No matter the time of year, the FISU Games cauldron will be standing tall at the park, a reminder of Lake Placid's winter sports legacy, its recent importance on the world stage, and commitment to sustainability.

Why is it called Brewster Park?

Around 1900, the area where the park now sits was initially cleared, and immediately became a popular spot events, parties, and relaxation. The park was named for Benjamin Brewster, an early resident of Lake Placid in the late 1800s who opened up the first official hotel in the community. Descendants of Benjamin were present for the rededication of the park in 2022, which formally recognized the park as "Brewster Park". There's a dedication stone where the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held that names important early locals in Lake Placid that helped transform the community into what it is today.
