Lake Placid Toboggan Chute

  • Mirror Lake, Lake Placid

Open only in the winter, this 30-foot high structure sends toboggans down an ice-covered chute onto frozen Mirror Lake. Depending on weather conditions, toboggans can travel more than 1,000 feet once they reach the frozen lake surface. To ensure the safety of riders, only one sled is sent down at a time.

At this time, the toboggan generally opens around President's Day week in February, depending on ice conditions. The schedule is subject to change based on the weather.

The North Elba Park District will determine the safety of the ice. For the toboggan chute to open, the ice needs to be 12 inches thick. For more information, visit the Park District's website or email cgeesler@northelba.org. No reservations are necessary.
