"Hallo! Halloween!"

Tis Hallowe'en, and magpies mean

Appear in ev'ry woodland green;

Great wild-eyed bats, and hungry gnats

Come on to grace the spooky scene!

Take care, take care, beware, beware,

There's ghostly myst'ry in the air;

The owls wise have sent out spies

Who pierce the darkness with their glare!

Hop-toads and frogs, and pigs and hogs

Are hopping, squealing in the bogs;

And here and there, upon the air

On brooms which cause the folks to stare.

Black cats they drop, on you kerflop!

Then laugh to see you trembling there!

Mischievous elves haunt all the shelves-

A gnome into your pantry delves.

Wee dwarfs and sprites put out the lights,

And goblins fight among themselves!

Plump pumpkins bold (so I was told)

Creep out at night to grab the old.

In damp, dark cave, they let them rave-

To die of fright and cave-man's cold!

So watch your step, the spooks are hep

To all you do-they know your "rep"

If you'll run fast, they'll never last

To scare you from all your pep!
