The Mirror Lake loop is a paved trail that takes you for a scenic 2.7 mile walk around Mirror Lake. The loop provides a perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy the mountain air, while still being in close proximity to the amenities that Lake Placid has to offer. Walking the loop is also a great way to experience the recent improvements to Lake Placid brought about by the preparation for the 2023 FISU World University Games

If you're staying on Main Street or around Mirror Lake, you can walk right from your room to the trail! If you aren't, you can still park on Main Street, or near the Toboggan Chute on Parkside Drive

Starting at the Toboggan Chute puts you at an informational sign about the entire loop, which also displays a full-sized map. Adjacent to this convenient starting point is a public beach, playground, and tennis courts. The public beach is often filled with people, and for good reason as its view from the southern tip of the lake is magnificent.

Heading north of the tennis courts you'll keep the water to your left as you stroll down the aptly-named Mirror Lake Drive. The classic brick-colored paving stones have since been upgraded, and all along the path there are grey plaques showcasing the names and elevations of the Adirondack 46 High Peaks! Benches placed on this section of the loop overlook the town and the breathtaking mountain back-drop, making for a picturesque picnic location.

From Mirror Lake Drive the walkway heads toward Main Street. Make sure to take in the stunning Adirondack abodes that dot the forest and lakeside. The architecture integrates with the environment, and the walkway gardens are pristine.

The fun isn't over as you exit the tunnel of green trees! Main Street is always bustling with a mix of locals and travelers from all over the world. Pick from dozens of diverse dining options, and check out some signature Lake Placid shops that stretch from the beginning to end of Main Street. Seeing the town at night is another fantastic way to experience the stops along the loop, and there are always local businesses that stay open late so that you can grab a drink and a bite to eat!

Green spaces are still present on Main Street. Walk down the stairs at Mid's Park to enjoy lakefront views, and the occasional swimming ducks that pass by. The Park also hosts live music and shows, so be sure to stay up-to-date on events happening around town!

If you're looking to add distance and elevation to the Mirror Lake Loop, consider a hike up Cobble Hill, which is accessible right from the Mirror Lake Drive portion of the loop, and part of the Lake Placid 9'er Hiking Challenge! No matter if you choose to include this added mileage, a stop in town for ice cream is a must!
