Where will you stay
The lodging here is second to none, with various unique experiences to choose from. Luxury resorts and boutique properties dazzle the region and are the first step in making your trip extraordinary. Lake Placid is filled with lodges and inns that have lived here for generations, with the renown and acclaim they’ve worked hard to maintain.
The Lake Placid Lodge is home to timeless Adirondack charm, with the main lodge as the crown jewel of the property. Relax in timeless luxury while you take in mountain and lake views right from your rustic room or cabin. With a traditional lodge atmosphere, the Whiteface Lodge is perfect for family stays. Their impeccably furnished rooms and extraordinary dining room framed with hand-hewn log beams and granite stone fireplaces are just a hop from the mountain. In town and right off of the iconic Main Street, the Mirror Lake Inn promises the pinnacle of hospitality. Their exceptional stays call back to vacation days of old when the likes of the Rockefellers would escape the city for these mountains while always innovating their luxurious amenities and fine dining.
Want to be right in the middle of the action? Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort is right across the street from the Olympic Center, the Speed Skating Oval, and impeccable restaurants on the tail end of Main Street. Their specialty and family suites are perfect for your next group getaway.
If you’re looking to be one with the natural beauty surrounding Lake Placid, countless lodges and rentals await, tucked in the snowy backcountry surrounding town. Premier dining
Diverse and innovative, Lake Placid’s culinary scene shines among the High Peaks. Indulge in dishes that blend traditional flavors of the region’s expansive history with modern, gourmet flair. Artisanal chefs hail from around the world to bring plates that dazzle at every meal, lovingly crafting each recipe with Adirondack charm. Many ingredients are harvested from local farms, a practice common here even before the farm-to-table movement swept the nation.
The View at Mirror Lake Inn oozes elegance just off the lake, with stellar views to enhance your dining experience. The Interlaken Inn’s own restaurant is low-lit and romantic, accented with historic pieces from the Adirondack’s rich history, with small plates showcasing craftsmanship and delicious flavor. Salt of the Earth Bistro brings a delightful twist to the dining scene in Lake Placid, with an incredible menu not to be missed and located in a century-old house with 9 tables, ensuring your experience is personal and to your liking. This is as exclusive as it gets.
Lodge dining
Looking to extend your rustic tastes to your dining experience? The local lodges are also home to incredible restaurants filled with warm hearths, endless drink menus, and exceptional service. Whiteface Lodge features two restaurants, Kanu and Peak 47. Kanu brings out the best of the best for your meal. Thick wood-beamed ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the surrounding mountains, and stone fireplaces framing the dining room set the stage for your night with a menu dedicated to authentic Adirondack recipes. Its sister restaurant, Peak 47, offers more casual fare, suited best to those who just got off the trails in need of a warm, comforting meal. Take a seat at the copper-topped bar or settle by the cozy glow of the wood-burning stone fireplace on a snowy day.
The Artisans at Lake Placid Lodge serve elegant “farm-to-fork” experiences in their fire-lit dining room. Their terrace extends out for three-season outdoor dining, complete with wool blankets, heaters, and stone fireplaces. Enjoy the unique atmosphere while you tuck into vibrant plates elevated by the executive chef’s extensive culinary knowledge.
